About You
You are an emerging accounting professional with 1–3 years of experience and a solid foundation in accounting or bookkeeping. You bring precision, curiosity, and a drive to understand the “why” behind the numbers. You take ownership of day‑to‑day accounting activities with accuracy and accountability, and you’re motivated by opportunities to learn, stretch your skills, and contribute to a high‑performing finance function. Your Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director, Finance & Operations, you will be responsible for:
· Processing and managing accounts payable transactions and expense reports, ensuring accuracy and timely vendor payments.
· Posting journal entries and maintaining supporting documentation in compliance with accounting standards and McGovern Hurley’s policies.
· Performing regular general ledger reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy and integrity.
· Preparing HST, WSIB, and EHT filings in line with regulatory requirements and deadlines.
· Generating and distributing operational and financial reports, supporting strategic decision-making.
· Monitoring and tracking McGovern Hurley contracts and subscriptions for accuracy and renewal timelines.
· Assisting with quarterly and annual financial reporting, as well as year-end partnership and corporate tax preparation.
· Supporting various financial analyses and ad-hoc reporting needs.
What You Bring
· 1-3 years of progressive, hands-on experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role.
· Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
· Strong grasp of core accounting principles and day-to-day bookkeeping practices.
· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel with QuickBooks Online and iFirm as a plus.
· Proven background within a Professional Services Firm is considered an asset.
· Availability to work onsite two days per week at McGovern Hurley’s North York office.
· Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
