Our firm is looking for a dynamic U.S. Tax Manager to learn and grow within our Tax Advisory Group. Reporting in the Director of U.S. Tax, you will have the opportunity to work as a leading team member on client engagements and tax research within our growing mid-sized firm while reviewing the work of junior staff for accuracy and completeness.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Lead research and preparation of U.S. tax-planning strategies for our clients and on the preparation and review of complex federal and state tax returns
  • Research various U.S. cross-boarder tax related issues and conclude on their potential implications
  • Collect and analyze relevant financial and tax data, Identify issues and errors, and investigate discrepancies
  • Actively engage in tax compliance, planning and strategy development by analyzing client tax issues, relevant tax laws, provisions, and jurisprudence
  • Coordinate with the IRS and state authorities, assist in preparation of election forms
  • Collaborate with engagement teams to plan timelines, risk assessments, and other documents
  • Identify issues and errors, and investigate discrepancies
  • Participate in business development initiatives and identify new business opportunities
  • Provide ongoing support and mentoring or the professional development of junior staff

Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years of U.S. public accounting tax experience.
  • You have completed your Canadian or U.S. professional accounting designation (CPA)
  • Excellent client service skills with the ability to understand the clients business.
  • Strong strategic planning, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Experience communicating complex tax matter both written and verbally.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. corporate federal and state income tax compliance
  • U.S. personal, trust, estate, and gift tax experience is an asset.
  • Highly motivated individual with a desire to grow.
  • Other language skills are an asset, please let us know if you are fluent in other languages.
