Note: We operate in a hybrid model, with two in-office days per week at our North York office. Thursdays serve as our Anchor Day for the Tax Advisory Group (TAG), creating dedicated time to collaborate, connect, and learn together.
About You
As McGovern Hurley’s next Associate, Tax, you’ll accelerate your career in public practice while building hands-on experience across corporate, trust, and partnership tax engagements. You’re an ambitious CPA candidate who’s eager to deepen your technical tax foundation, take on meaningful client work, and learn alongside a collaborative and high-performing team. Your Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review corporate, trust, and partnership tax returns across a range of complexity, delivering accuracy, precision, and exceptional client service.
- Support end-to-end tax compliance engagements by gathering, organizing, and validating client financial information to ensure accurate, complete, and CRA-compliant filings.
- Build and apply strong technical knowledge of the Canadian Income Tax Act, CRA guidance, and evolving tax legislation across a diverse client portfolio.
- Contribute to tax compliance and regulatory initiatives by preparing and filing election forms and other required documentation with a focus on quality and accuracy.
- Drive technical excellence through in-depth tax research, identifying risks and delivering practical, client-focused insights, summaries, and recommendations.
- Analyze financial, accounting, and tax data to generate meaningful insights that support compliance requirements and inform broader tax advisory initiatives.
What You Bring
- Pursuing your Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) designation with plans to pursue CPA In-Depth Tax Program.
- Passionate about public accounting, eager to learn, and excited to dive into real client engagement work, taking on new challenges with confidence.
- Technically proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & Outlook) with a knack for picking up new tools and technology quickly.
- Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills, ready to engage clients professionally and collaborate seamlessly with others.
- Strong organizational and execution skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities and deadlines with confidence.
- Demonstrated alignment with McGovern Hurley’s values of collaboration, respect, accountability, integrity, and quality.
- Proven experience in client- or customer-facing roles, engaging clients professionally and delivering a positive experience – a definite plus.
